Appointment information
My fee is $220 for a 50-minute appointment. The Australian Psychological Society's recommended fee is currently $330 per session. As I work with patients on a regular, usually weekly basis, I have chosen to set my fee below the recommended rate to make ongoing psychotherapy more financially accessible. If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP or psychiatrist, you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year.
No. You can book an appointment without a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. However, if you are eligible to receive Medicare-subsidised psychological services, e.g. with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, a referral from your GP or psychiatrist will significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs for a limited number of psychology sessions per calendar year.
I accept the following referral types:Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP)If you have a valid MHTP and referral from your GP or psychiatrist, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year.GP Chronic Condition Management (CCM) PlanA CCM Plan is available for people with a chronic medical condition that has been present, or is expected to be present, for six months or more and requires coordinated care from multiple healthcare providers. Where appropriate, your GP may refer you for up to five Medicare-rebated allied health sessions each calendar year. These five sessions are shared across your allied health care team, so the number of psychology sessions available will depend on how you and your GP choose to allocate them between your psychologist and any other allied health professionals involved in your care.To access psychology under a CCM Plan, your chronic medical condition must have psychological or emotional impacts that would benefit from psychological treatment.Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling ServicesThis Medicare-funded service provides support for people experiencing personal concerns related to a current pregnancy or a pregnancy within the previous 12 months, including pregnancies that ended in birth, miscarriage, stillbirth or termination. You may be eligible for up to three Medicare-rebated counselling sessions per pregnancy. You must be currently pregnant or have been pregnant within the 12 months before your first appointment under this referral.
I do not provide autism assessments, ADHD assessments, psycho-legal reports, or workplace psychological assessments.I also do not accept third-party funded referrals, including those through WorkSafe, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), or the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Yes, depending on your level of cover. Some private health insurance policies provide rebates for a limited number of psychology sessions. As cover and rebate amounts vary between insurers and policies, I recommend contacting your private health insurer to check your eligibility and any applicable benefits before your appointment. Please note that you cannot claim under Medicare and your private health insurance at the same time.
